Detroit Lions DeAndre Levy named NFC defensive player of week

ALLEN PARK — Lions linebacker DeAndre Levy has been named the NFC defensive player of the week.

Levy was a force in Monday night’s win over the Giants with a team-high 10 tackles and also intercepted Eli Manning once.

Levy is coming off a strong 2013 season in which he had six interceptions.

It’s the first player of the week award for Levy. He is the first Lions’ linebacker to win the award since Stephen Boyd in 1997.
