Detroit Lions — Abdul-Quddus to start for Ihedigbo; Broyles, Ogletree inactive

DETROIT — With safety James Ihedigbo out against the N.Y. Giants, Isa Abdul-Quddus  will start.

Ihedigbo had been doubtful for tonight’s game. Ihedigbo was limited in practice on Friday and Saturday after siting out more than a week with neck and knee injuries.

Abdul-Quddus has started four NFL games — three for the New Orleans Saints in 2012 and one for the Saints in 2011. He played in 11 games in New Orleans in 2013.

Safety Don Carey, who has not practiced for more than a week due to a hamstring injury, is also out leaving the Lions short at the safety position, with only rookie Jerome Couplin as a backup. Couplin is an undrafted hard-hitting rookie.

Rookie defensive tackle Caraun Reid, who has a shoulder injury, is active for the game. He had been listed as probable after being limited in practice on Friday and Saturday.

Other inactives include: QB Kellen Moore, T Cornelius Lucas, WR Ryan Broyles, WR Kevin Ogletree and DE Larry Webster.

Giants inactives: WR Odell Beckham, T Charles Brown, DE Kerry Wynn, T James Brewer, DT Markus Kuhn, DT Jay Bromley and OL Adam Snyder.
