Ciurciu thrilled the Lions wanted him back
Playing at the New York Giants on Sunday will be special for linebacker Vinny Ciurciu who was just brought back by the Lions on Thursday.
“It’s really cool. I grew up watching the Giants, it will good to go back, my family will be able to watch me,’’ said Ciurciu who grew up in New Jersey.
He had to scrounge for tickets once he got back to town this week.
Ciurciu played nine games for the Lions last season and spent the whole offseason with the team before he was cut on Sept. 4.
With the situation so desperate at middle linebacker because of injuries he got the call. He had been working out and managing apartments back in New Jersey.
“It’s really humbling to go from playing football to a 9 to 5 job. You get to appreciate what the NFL is all about and how lucky and special this job really is,’’ Ciurciu said.
On Sunday expect to see him on special teams and possibly in on defense.
