Schuyler found, Smith still missing
According to a report on MSNBC, the Coast Guard found one of the four people lost in a boating excursion off Florida's gulf coast Monday.
The television station identified the person as Nick Schuyler. Free-agent Lions defensive end Corey Smith, Raiders linebacker Marquis Cooper and William Bleakley, a former college teammate of Schuyler's at South Florida, remain missing.
The four men left Saturday morning on a fishing expedition and reported missing around 1:30 a.m. Sunday. The Coast Guard spent the last 24 hours searching a 16,000-square-mile area west of Clearwater Pass, by Tampa.
Smith made six starts and played 36 games over the last three seasons with the Lions. He had three sacks last year, including one each against his former teams Tampa Bay and San Francisco.
He and Cooper played together with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Coast Guard is expected to update its search efforts in a 3 p.m. press conference today.
Update: According to a report by Tampa TV station WTSP, the boat was found capsized and anchored in the middle of the the gulf, not broken into pieces.
