Join chat on Detroit Lions at 3 p.m. on Thursday
It's always busy in the NFL at this time of year. The NFL draft is just five weeks away and the Lions have 10 picks. Also, the NFL owners met this week and approved a few changes for this upcoming season.
Bring your questions and comments, it's always interesting. — Paula Pasche

Of course you weren't at the owners meetings. No way would a tightwad like Wyatt sign off on that. He just keeps raising the bar of expectations from the staff, while not raising salaries accordingly when they are met. It's damn near a miracle you were allowed to go to the combine in Indy on the company dime. No openings for beat writers? What gifted sports journalist would want such a job at the OP? Forty some grand a year? Your predecessor, Dave Birkett, in making over twice that at the Freep. That is also much more than your editor (boss) makes. No health care, pension plan, or even covering road games. That was long ago handed over to the likes of Trister and Lage of the AP to save a few more Digital First corporate bucks. Face it, Paula. It's a job, but you're working for a low class slave driving outfit that enjoys a monopoly in most of Oakland County. That is the sole reason it continues to survive. Ads and other prices continue to rise, while actual news content steadily withers away. Yet all is not lost. The boat club will be firing up in a couple months. Like the Lions every year, it's at least something. Not much, but I'm thinking it beats the heck out of staff meetings with Don, Julie, Jeff, and the always lovable Jeannie, when she deigns to grace the serfs with her royal presence.
