Quick hits from Jim Caldwell presser and practice on Friday morning:
— A decision has been made on whether Calvin Johnson will play, but Caldwell won’t make it public. The coach said a few weeks ago he didn’t think Johnson would play and then he did. Reading between the lines, sounds like he’ll sit. Injury report at 4 p.m. could reveal more. Johnson did not practice on Friday, but was on the field with his teammates.
— Also missing from Friday's practice were: Reggie Bush (ankle), Joe Fauria (ankle) and Travis Lewis (quad). None of them have practiced this week.
— Captains for this week are Golden Tate on offense, DeAndre Levy on defense and Don Carey on special teams.
— Said when he announced to players that kicker Matt Prater was signed, there was a rousing round of applause.
— Coach said that Jason Hanson had not reached out to him to return to the organization. He praised Hanson’s 21-year career but said, “We have our guy in place and we’re really pleased about that.’’
— Caldwell said rookie tight end Eric Ebron’s role will increase “little by little as he goes on.’’
