Detroit Lions — Five players who stood out in win over Cleveland Browns

The Detroit Lions came from behind to beat the Cleveland Browns 13-12 in preseason action on Saturday night at Ford Field.

Here are five Lions who stood out:

— With a solid game, quarterback Kellen Moore started the discussion of whether he should be the No. 2 quarterback over Dan Orlovsky. You can’t go just by the numbers but Moore was 11 of 13 for 121 yards, a touchdown and a 131.1 quarterback rating while Orlovsky was 12 of 23 for 89 yards and a 61.7 rating. Matthew Stafford said that Moore has the ‘it’ factor. Stay tuned.

— Wide receiver Ryan Broyles’ numbers weren’t too gaudy — three catches for 27 yards. But he was impressive because on his first two catches it was his yards after the catch that picked up first downs. It’s all about being efficient and he certainly was. Hard not to cheer for Broyles who had bad luck in first two seasons in Detroit with torn ACL in 2012 and torn Achilles’ last year. It’s a battle at the wide receiver position. Broyles did his part.

— Running back George Winn had a half-dozen carries for 39 yards, including a 16-yard scamper. George who? Winn has flashed during training camp. He did fumble the ball and can’t keep doing that, but he forced the coaches to keep an eye on him.

— Andrew Peacock (No. 1 in photo), a rookie out of Appalachian State, was the leading receiver with four catches for 43 yards. It’ll be tough for him to crack the 53-man roster, but he could be a solid practice squad candidate.

— Pass rushing linebacker Kyle Van Noy saw plenty of action and nearly sacked Johnny Manziel. Ashlee Palmer got the start, but Van Noy saw plenty of action and proved he was worthy of a second-round pick.

It would have been a TOL since it was clearly a run. A few years ago, yes that would have been a sack for KVN. I reado one person say it was an embarrassing missed tackle.
