— Golden Tate is scheduled to visit today. The 25-year-old wide receiver has spent the last four years with the Seahawks, the defending Super Bowl champs. He had a career year in 2013 with 64 catches for 898 yards and five touchdowns. This was on an run-heavy offense. He’d be a complement to Calvin Johnson, although Tate would have to change his uniform number.
— Center Phil Costa also is set to visit today. He was cut by the Cowboys on Friday. He was the backup center in 2013 after Dallas drafted Travis Frederick in the first round of the 2013 draft. Costa is only 26 so he could be fill the center position once Dominic Raiola retires. (Cool fact: He was once engaged to Brooke Hogan, reality show personality and daughter of Hulk Hogan.)
— Fullback Henry Hynoski is expected to visit on Thursday. Coach Jim Schwartz’s offense didn’t employ a fullback, although they might have used Montell Owens sporadically at fullback last season but he was injured except for one game. New coach Jim Caldwell will use a fullback in his offense. Hynoski — aka Hynoceros or Hank the Tank — played in just three games for the Giants last season. The 6-1, 266-pound fullback was coming off MCL surgery in May 2013. Like Tate, he was a Super Bowl ring. He's young — age 25.
NFL free agency opened at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
