Schwartz: Titus Young to have surgery, if he shows up for it

ALLEN PARK — Jim Schwartz has watched his words when he discusses wide receiver Titus Young.
It’s been quite a tight-rope act for the Detroit Lions coach.
It was different on Wednesday when he was asked about placing Young on injured reserve to end his season.
At first, Schwartz said it was similar to Jason Fox last year who had a knee that bothered him all season.
“It’s something that’s been on the radar since the spring and we’ll move on without him,’’ Schwartz said.
When asked if the team will stay in touch with Young, Schwartz said he’d cross that bridge when he gets there.
Then Schwartz was asked if Young would have surgery.
“Most likely. Yes, unless he doesn’t show up for it,’’ Schwartz said.
If there was any doubt that the Titus Young era in Detroit is over, those 10 words seal the deal.

Surgery just might solve the problem. May I suggest a lobotomy?
