Lions cut 6
The Lions released six players as part of their roster makeover Monday, safety Dwight Smith, tackle Jon Dunn and four players already known. Smith, who finished last season on injured reserve with a fractured left ankle, was due a $500,000 roster bonus at the start of free agency and a $2.25-million salary next year. Dunn did not play in a game.
Cornerback Leigh Bodden, receiver Mike Furrey, tight end Dan Campbell and left guard Edwin Mulitalo also were released, putting the Lions about $35 million under the salary cap.
