Free agent quarterback Shaun Hill is visiting the St. Louis Rams today according to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Dispatch.
Hill has been the Lions’ backup quarterback for four seasons. In 2010 he played in 11 games while Matthew Stafford was injured.
If he signs with the Rams, the Lions will be looking for a veteran backup quarterback perhaps 31-year-old Ryan Fitzpatrick who was cut by the Titans last week.
If you remember Jim Caldwellwas the coach of the Indianapolis Colts when Peyton Manning had to miss the 2011 season. The Colts didn’t have a reliable backup and finished the season 2-14 which cost Caldwell his job.
Hill was considered the fifth best quarterback available in free agency.
A chance remains that Hill will return to the Lions.
