My answer was that month between the last minicamp in June and the start of training camp in late July. Other than that it is never dull.
Here’s a look at what is coming up.
— March 11: Deadline at 4 p.m. for teams to submit qualifying offers to their restricted free agents.
— March 11: By 4 p.m. all teams must be under the 2014 salary cap.
— March 11: Free agency signing begins at 4 p.m.
— March 23-26: Owners meeting in Orlando.
— April 7: Teams, like the Lions, that hired a new coach may begin offseason workout programs. This is two weeks ahead of teams with returning coaches.
— April 12-13: Super Regional Combine at Ford Field.
— May 2: Deadline for restricted free agents to sign offer sheets.
— May 8-10: NFL Draft
No dates yet for the Lions’ minicamps.
