Five things we learned from Seattle's dominance in Super Bowl XLVIII

Five things we learned in the Seahawks’ 43-8 shellacking of the Denver Broncos on Super Bowl Sunday.

1. Speed kills and the Seahawks defense has it. Quite a show.

2. Cliff Avril (former Lion) is who we thought he was. Certainly he garnered at least a few MVP votes although Malcolm Smith got the nod along with the keys to a Chevy truck. Peter King of MMQB.com said he voted for Avril.

3. Peyton Manning is human. (One touchdown, two interceptions, one fumble and a 73.5 quarterback rating.)

4. The Twelfth Man matters. Manny Ramirez (former Lion) said he didn’t hear the snap count because of the noise. You might remember the play — the first for the Broncos where the ball sailed over Manning’s head and the Seahawks got a safety. Funny, when the Seahawks lost to the Steelers in Super Bowl XL at Ford Field it was like a Pittsburgh home game.

5. The Seahawks are young, they have salary cap space and a good coaching staff. They are not done making trips to the Super Bowl any time soon. The Seahawks and 49ers are the best teams in the NFL and they’re both in the NFC. The Lions do not play either team during the 2014 regular season.
