Detroit Lions: Marathon could snarl traffic for Sunday's game

If you’re going to the Lions’ game at 1 p.m. Sunday at Ford Field, keep in mind that the Detroit Free Press Marathon will be run Sunday too.

It might be a good idea to leave home early.

The marathon will cause additional traffic downtown and challenges for those coming from the RenCen/Detroit-Windsor Tunnel area, including the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center.

Those coming from the north and from the south via I-75 will not be affected directly by closures, but should still plan accordingly based on the additional downtown traffic.

These closures may have an impact for those attending the Lions-Bengals game:
—  Michigan Ave between 6th and Campus Martius will be closed 6 a.m.-12 p.m.
—  I-375 Jefferson Ave East exit ramp will be closed 6 a.m.-2 p.m.
—  I-375 Jefferson Ave West exit ramp will have controlled access 6 a.m.-2 p.m.
—  I-375 Lafayette exit ramp and service drive area will have controlled access 6 a.m.-2 p.m.
