ALLEN PARK — Calvin Johnson was back at practice today (Wednesday) after limited playing time in Sunday’s win at Cleveland.
Johnson, who has an injured right knee, was running routes during the portion of practice open to the media.
Running back Joique Bell, who injured his ribs on Sunday, and cornerback Rashean Mathis who couldn’t finish the game with a groin injury, both practiced.
Tight end Tony Scheffler and running back Theo Riddick, who both suffered concussions at Green Bay, still did not practice. Riddick, however, was on the field watching.
Right tackle Jason Fox (knee) remains out along with wide receiver Nate Burleson (broken forearm).
Safety Louis Delmas (knee) was out as he has been for most Wednesdays.
Running back Montell Owens, who had been on short-term Injured reserve with a knee injury, returned to practice Wednesday. It was the first time he was allowed to practice after sitting out for six weeks. He won’t be allowed to play until the Nov. 10 game at Chicago. Owens should provide a huge boost to special teams.
Tight end Dorin Dickerson, who was signed on Monday, joined his new teammates at practice. Dickerson was cut by the Buffalo Bills on Aug. 30.
Wide receiver Patrick Edwards, who was waived to clear room for Dickerson, was signed to the practice squad and was at practice.
