Lions add durable safety in Glover Quin

ALLEN PARK — The Lions continued their free agent shopping frenzy with the signing of safety Glover Quin today (Wednesday).

It’s uncertain if the Lions will bring back Louis Delmas, a starter for the last three seasons. He’s an unrestricted free agent who has drawn interest from the St. Louis Rams.

Quin has the durability the Lions didn’t have at the safety position for the last two seasons.

The 27-year-old started every game for the Houston Texans in the last three seasons. He has five interceptions in his four years with Houston.

In 2012, Quin had 14 pass defenses, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, a sack and 84 tackles.

Quin, who is 6-foot and 207 pounds, was a fourth-round draft pick by the Texans in 2009. He played college football at New Mexico.

On Tuesday the Lions signed safety Amari Spievey to a one-year deal.
