Detroit Lions awarded compensatory picks for losing Drew Stanton, Eric Wright

The Lions were awarded a pair of compensatory picks on Monday — one in the fourth round (132nd overall) and one in the seventh round of the draft that runs April 25-27.

The picks were a results of losing Eric Wright and quarterback Drew Stanton.

In addition to the compensatory picks, the Lions have picks No. 4, 36, 65 and picks in the fifth through seventh rounds.

 Thirty-two compensatory picks were awarded.

According to the NFL, compensatory free agents are determined by a formula based on salary, playing time and postseason honors. The formula was developed by the NFL Management Council. Not every free agent lost or signed by a club is covered by this formula.

Also interesting news on Stanton who signed as a free agent with the Arizona Cardinals last week. His coach Bruce Arians (who coached him last season with the Colts) told the NFL Network that Stanton is “very capable” of being the Cardinals’ starter.
