Lions injury report: Calvin Johnson, Stanton don't practice
ALLEN PARK — Neither Calvin Johnson (bruised shoulder) or QB Drew Stanton practiced on Sunday, but neither condition is serious.
Both were on the practice field with their teammates.
Johnson bruised his shoulder early in Friday’s preseason win over Cincinnati.
Coach Jim Schwartz said Stanton got a puncture wound in his elbow that required two stitches. It was preventative to keep him out. If the wound got sweaty it could cause infection.
Rookie WR Titus Young (leg) remains out after making a brief comeback early last week.
Tight end Brandon Pettigrew, who missed three days of practice and the game Friday night with an ankle injury, was back at full speed. Schwartz pointed out the solid practice that Pettigrew had. Also returning, on a limited basis was CB Aaron Berry.
Others out of practice were T Isaac Sowells, DT Andre Fluellen (hand), S Randy Phillips, DT Quinn Pitcock, Jason Fox (foot), DT Nick Fairley (foot), RB Maurice Morris (hand), CB Alphonso Smith (foot) and LT Jeff Backus (torn chest muscle).
