DETROIT — WR Calvin Johnson, who missed Thursday’s practice, is active for tonight’s preseason opener against Cincinnati at Ford Field.

Also active is right tackle Gosder Cherilus who has practiced on a limited basis while coming back from microfracture knee surgery.

No surprises among the inactive Lions — WR Titus Young, CB Alphonso Smith, T Jason Fox, LT Jeff Backus, TE

Brandon Pettigrew, DT Andre Fluellen and DT Nick Fairley.

Tony Scheffler will start in place of Pettigrew while Corey Hilliard will take Backus’ spot at left tackle.
