Big question now: Is Follett's NFL career over?

ALLEN PARK -- After receiving word on Wednesday night that Lions linebacker Zack Follett is done for the season, it’s possible we’ll learn more today (Thursday) about the situation.

Follett injured his neck in a helmet-on-helmet collision in the loss to the Giants on Oct. 17. He was placed on injured reserve Wednesday night.

Hopefully for Follett and the Lions, he will be able to come back next season. Follett is a football player -- and that’s a compliment. Works hard, is a good teammate and excels at hard hits. He took the challenge of becoming a starting linebacker this year and met it after spending most of his rookie season on special teams.

Follett is living proof that seventh-round draft picks can play a key role on an NFL team.

If Follett speaks today and/or the team expands on his injury situation, I will have the information here.
