INDIANAPOLIS — San Francisco 49ers GM Trent Baalke has moved on from Jim Harbaugh.
The former 49ers coach told a San Jose Mercury News podcast that it was not a mutual decision that he would no longer coach the 49ers.
“Jim’s moved on, we’ve moved on, he’s got a heck of a job,’’ Baalke said at the NFL Scouting Combine on Wednesday morning. “We’ve got a new head football coach, we’re tying to get ready for the draft, free agency and the offseason program.’’
Harbaugh was hired as coach at Michigan on Dec. 30.
When pressed, Baalke still did not want to address the Harbaugh issue.
“Jim did a heck of a job he’s a heck of a coach, and I think once again he’s gone his direction we’ve gone ours,’’ Baalke said. “I feel very good about the direction we’re headed, I’m sure he does as well.’’
Harbaugh has been working with quarterback Jameis Winston prior to the Combine, according to USA Today. Winston was at the Michigan State at Michigan game on Tuesday night.
