Report: Detroit Lions hire Joe Marciano as special teams coordinator

The Lions wasted no time replacing John Bonamego who reportedly will become the head coach at Central Michigan, his alma mater.

Joe Marciano, who worked with coach Jim Caldwell in 1991 in Tampa Bay, has been named the new Lions’ special teams coordinator, according to SI.com.

Marciano, 60, has coached special teams in New Orleans, Tampa Bay and Houston.
He was fired with most of the Texans staff after the 2013 season. He had been with the Texans since 2002.

Marciano spent 2014 assisting with the Vikings’ special teams.

Bonamego had been hired by Jim Schwartz prior to the 2013 season.
