Detroit Lions — Nick Fairley's prognosis still unclear

ALLEN PARK — Eight days later, there is still no definitive prognosis on Nick Fairley’s knee.

The Lions’ defensive tackle had to be carted off the field at Wembley Stadium in the win over the Falcons on Oct. 26.

“Right now he is under the doctor’s care and supervision. He’s gotten a couple of opinions,’’ Caldwell said. “Hopefully it’ll be just one of those things where he can heal. We’ll see in a couple weeks and make a determination from there.’’

Obviously there is hope he will return this season.

“I’m not certain exactly where he is at this point in time,’’ Caldwell said. “To be honest, nobody knows. There’s anything that can happen. There can be an unbelievable turn-around or it can be lengthy. We’ll wait and see.’’

Caldwell also would not be specific on the other injured players who sat out the game in London including Calvin Johnson, Reggie Bush and the three tight ends — Brandon Pettigrew, Joe Fauria and Eric Ebron.

Johnson has said he expects to play on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins.
