Detroit Lions — Keep an eye on Ndamukong Suh, Cam Newton starting with coin toss

Keep an eye on Ndamukong Suh when the Detroit Lions play the Panthers today.

Suh could be a little peeved after Cam Newton called him “Donkey Kong Suh” five times in a press conference this week.

It will start with the coin toss. Suh is a captain this week and Newton is a team captain for the season.

Suh didn’t talk with the Detroit media after Newton’s remarks this week.

But Aaron Fentress of CSNNW.com talked anonymously to three of Suh’s high school buddies who he remains friends with. They told the website that they doubt Suh is taking the words lightly.

According to the report, one friend said: "Ndamukong Suh is a real life beast. When he sees prey he will attack with no remorse. Being that Cam Newton is disrespecting his name, his culture and his family, that only gives him added motivation to do whatever it takes to make him pay, legally, within the rules of the game, of course."

One of the friends said he mistakenly called Suh “Donkey Kong” in high school.

"I called him that in high school and he almost took me out. But he knew better back then. He was the little homie,’’ one of the friends told Fentress of Comcast Sportsnet.

Should be interesting.

The Lions coaches said that none of their players should need added motivation on Sundays. Of course, they’re just getting to know Suh.
