ALLEN PARK — Since he arrived in Detroit, Lions coach Jim Schwartz has been firm that he is not interested in having his team be involved in HBO’s compelling series, “Hard Knocks.’’

The NFL owners passed a rule this week that one NFL team per season will be  involved in the show that offers a behind-the-scenes of an NFL team during training camp. 

At first Schwartz tried to avoid the question, saying he was busy preparing for Cleveland.

But he couldn’t let it go at that.

“I’d like to be right in line for those after Minnesota, Chicago and Green Bay,’’ Schwartz said. “I’d like to be right behind those guys. We’ll let them clear the path for us and then we’ll gladly pick up the banner after those guys.’’
