Darrelle Revis to Detroit Lions? Not likely

Two questions:

1. Would Darrelle Revis look good in Honolulu blue?

2. Does ESPN’s Ed Werder know something we don’t?

Werder said on NFL Live today (Wednesday) that he thinks the Detroit Lions and Tampa Bay Bucs are potential suitors. Just do not see it happening with the Lions.

The New York Jets cornerback is as good as gone according to several reports.

It’ll take a high draft pick, plus a new multi-year deal must be negotiated. He’s expected to command between $12 million and $16 million per season.

The Lions don’t have that kind of money in their salary cap structure.

It’s not like this is a win-win situation. The 27-year-old Revis is coming off an ACL surgery.

Yes, he’s arguably the NFL’s best corner and yes, the Lions are always in need at that position.

The price is just too steep.

The trading period begins on Tuesday, the same time as free agency begins.
