More questions on Best as Lions bring back Kevin Smith; also sign G Leonard Davis
It’s a sign that perhaps Jahvid Best (concussion) is not close to returning to action. The Lions brought back running back Kevin Smith on Monday.
Smith was a third-round pick by the Lions in the 2008 draft. After a successful rookie season, he was slowed down by injuries.
In the 2010 season he played in six games and was shut down after breaking a thumb in the loss to the Bills on Nov. 14.
He was a free agent, but the Lions made it clear they were looking in another direction. Known for his run blocking, Davis has played and started in 155 career games.
The Lions also signed guard Leonard Davis, a three-time Pro Bowler (2007-2009) who was released by the Cowboys on July 28.
To make room on the roster the Lions released RB Eldra Buckley and cornerback Anthony Madison.
