Jahvid Best says he is close to 100 percent
ALLEN PARK -- Jahvid Best said he is close to 100 percent which is good news for the Lions who need to increase the production of their running game.
The rookie running back has not missed a game, but has dealt with turf toe on both feet. First it was his left big toe. That went away in a week or so, then he got it on his right foot. That has lingered. There is no cure for turf toe except rest so the bye week was a plus to getting him closer to 100 percent.
“Any kind of pressure I put on my foot it would hurt,’’ Best said on Friday.
His teammates can see a difference on the practice field. This week he practiced on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
“Before the bye week he wasn’t practicing until Friday, he wasn’t doing anything. He’s a tough kid and he’s sucking it up, he looks healthier,’’ center Dominic Raiola said.
