A look at standouts from Lions win at Denver
Here’s a look at a few standouts from the Lions’ 25-20 win at Denver on Saturday night.
Quarterback Matthew Stafford has looked sharp in camp and has brought it onto the field in the first two preseason games. That is exactly what coach Jim Schwartz wanted to see.
Rookie running back Jahvid Best has done the same thing. He’s translated his stellar play in training camp into game situations.
Kevin Smith is not 100 percent yet, but not sure he ever had Best’s speed. Still Smith made a few cuts and his knee seemed to hold up.
Can any defensive back jump as high as Calvin Johnson? Don’t think so.
Safety Randy Phillips, a undrafted rookie free agent, once again made his presence known. The big question: How did he go undrafted? He filled in for Louis Delmas who is nursing a groin injury.
Defensive end Willie Young, a seventh-round pick, forced a fumble late in the game.
