DT Corey Williams happy to land with Lions

ALLEN PARK — Corey Williams is happy to be back in the NFC North after two seasons in Cleveland.

Williams toured the Lions practice facility today after he was traded from Cleveland for the Lions’ second fifth-round draft pick. The Lions will also receive the Browns’ seventh-round pick this year.

Williams had a smile on his face when he met the Detroit media.

He explained that when he started his NFL career in Green Bay, the Packers played the 4-3 and he was on the inside. The Browns used him as an end in the 3-4 scheme.

He much prefers playing on the inside.

“My bread and butter is playing inside, but (Cleveland) had me play outside,’’ Williams said. “(On the inside) everything happened a lot quicker. Everything is a lot, lot quicker than it is at end, there’s less thinking. I’m the type of player, I like to just go. I don’t like to think, I like to go.’’

Williams will play alongside newly acquired defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch who is expected to be introduced on Saturday.
