Stanton goes for MRI
ALLEN PARK Swelling in the knee of quarterback Drew Stanton kept him out of this afternoons practice. His knee was not swollen after Saturdays game. He had a little swelling on Sunday, but nothing major. Then when he arrived at the practice facility today he had much more swelling. He was sent for an MRI. No results were immediately available. He was not at the facility during practice.
Daunte Culpepper has eight stitches in one of his toes after tripping on carpet at home on Saturday night. He was on the field for practice, but did not participate and chose not to comment. He has not been ruled out for Thursday nights preseason game at Buffalo.
With Matthew Stafford as the only healthy quarterback, coach Jim Schwartz cut practice time by about 20 percent. We put a want ad on Craigslist for a quarterback for today for practice. Nobody answered, so we had to go with one quarterback for practice, Schwartz said.
