Lions will face Favre on Sept. 20

ALLEN PARK —  With Brett Favre signing with the Vikings today, the Lions season opener against Minnesota on Sept. 20 just got a little more interesting.
Sort of.
“I’m worried about tomorrow,’’ coach Jim Schwartz said after today’s afternoon practice. “I can’t worry about Sept. 20. Obviously that’s something of interest to us because of the division, not only a division team we play twice, but a team that’s on the schedule. It’s going to change that game a little bit, but we’ve got a lot of ground to cover before we get there.’’
Schwartz has game-planned as a defensive coordinator at Tennessee to play Favre -- twice when he was at Green Bay and last season when he was with the Jets.
“You can defeat the play and he can still make a play, meaning you can do everything right on defense and he’s a guy who can still fit a ball in, or he can create and he can make something out of nothing,’’ Schwartz said.
Lions’ defensive tackle Grady Jackson played in Green Bay with Favre and considers him a friend.
“I figured he was coming back because it’s hard for a guy like him to just lay it down. If he has something in the tank I felt like he was going to come back,’’ Jackson said.
