Detroit Lions draft CB Nevin Lawson, DE Larry Webster in 4th round

ALLEN PARK — Cornerback Nevin Lawson (Utah State) was selected by the Detroit Lions with their first of two picks in the fourth round today. Defensive end Larry Webster was selected three picks later with the 136th overall pick.

Lawson (in photo at Combine) is 5-foot-10 and 186 pounds and was taken with the 133rd overall pick.

He started 13 games in 2013 with 13 pass breakups, 17 passes defended and four interceptions.

Lawson is a native of Kingston, Jamaica.

Webster, who played at Bloomsburg, is 6-foot-7 and 250 pounds with good NFL bloodlines. His dad Larry was an NFL defensive lineman 1992-2002 with the Dolphins, Browns, Ravens and Jets.

The scout's take on Webster in Nolan Nawrocki's draft guide says: "He's what you call a diamond in the rough. Once you polish him up, he might be a star. He stood out at the Shrine game. He has a lt of upside, I'd like to get him late.''
