ALLEN PARK — Calvin Johnson returned to Lions’ practice today (Wednesday) after sitting out on Tuesday.
Nate Burleson was back for his second straight practice which keeps the door open for a possible return on Sunday at Chicago. Burleson broke his forearm on Sept. 24 in a pizza-related incident and this is his first week of practice. Coach Jim Schwartz said on Tuesday it was too early to know if Burleson would be ready for Sunday.
Right tackle Corey Hilliard (knee), cornerback Bill Bentley (knee), defensive end Ziggy Ansah and safety Louis Delmas (knee) all missed their second straight practice.
Linebacker Travis Lewis was out after practicing on Tuesday.
Newest defensive end Austen Lane, who was signed on Tuesday, got in his first practice. With Ansah likely out, Lane has a good chance of being active on Sunday. Ansah was seen wearing an orthopedic boot on his left foot on Tuesday.
The Lions play at the Chicago Bears on Sunday. Both teams are 5-3 and 2-1 in the NFC North. Detroit beat Chicago in their first meeting 40-32 on Sept. 29 thanks, in part to a 27-point second quarter.
