Detroit Lions' Jim Schwartz says Bears' allegations 'ridiculous'

Some Chicago Bears players told a Chicago ESPN reporter on Sunday that they thought former Bears defensive end Israel Idonije, who now plays for the Lions, had tipped the Lions off to their stunts because every time they ran a power stunt, Reggie Bush saw it and made the most of it.

“I really think that’s ridiculous, I think it takes away from the players on the field.’’ Lions coach Jim Schwartz said. “We rushed for a lot of yards because we blocked them and Reggie Bush broke tackles. To say Reggie Bush is 8 yards behind the quarterback and he can hear what a line call is I think that’s ridiculous.’’

Bush ran for 139 yards including a 37-yard touchdown scamper.

“I’d also like to point out they signed Landon Cohen last week,’’ Schwartz said. “Landon had been here a long time and we haven’t changed our scheme since Landon was here I didn’t see that being a big difference in the game. Stuff like that comes up, it’s just the nature of the NFL.’’

Well he didn't deny it. Just said it was rediculous. Standard beating around the bush and not giving an answer. I'm not saying he did or didn't but Schwartz is an idiot. He shouldn't even be a head coach with a record of 23-43. He's just lucky he had that 2011 season with the lions.

I'm a Bears fan and this is ridiculous. Even if he did tip the Lions off, he plays for them. He can do whatever he wants after the Bears didn't resign him. Really well played game by the Lions, and that's all there is to it.

And who the hell cares if if did give them tips...players do it all the time...why are all you bears fans crying about it and name calling and acting like 5th graders? Seriously whining cuz he told them what they do? Jon Gruden did that against the raiders in the Super Bowl, that's why Tampas D shut them down, John Lynch even said they knew what was coming..wipe the tears away..it was a beat down..it happens..and to everyone saying the Lions haven't won anything, neither has Cutlar..but Lions fans need to relax a little, it's one game there are 13 more to go.

Even if he was tipping plays you still have to execute. It was up to the bears then to stop it by disgusing their plays. They didn't do it and got beat.

So what if he did tip them off? It happens all the time in the NFL players get traded and then play former teams. Idonije can do whatever he wants if the Bears are complaining he tipped them off maybe they should have been smart an changed up their play calling. Just take the loss like men

That was not an 8 point game. Lions won that game in the third quarter. 2. Any comments about the state of the city of Detroit are just irrelevant and angry musings from fans who didn't like watching that whooping on Sunday. 3. It was bears fans who were throwing beer at Darius slay so thanks for your donations to the city but keep your classless fans out of ford field.

Talk about a dumb coach in schwartz really? The bears ran a reciever around the end for 21, then forte around the other end for 50+ yards.2 plays around the end for a TD. Aftr that they ran off takles through Suh, and Fairley. Not gonna happen. Who's the dumb coach now. Go Lions!! Also nice cheap shot on Detroits reciever who covered the on side at the end.

I've got to admit, with all the crap that gets put on all these msg threads, this one takes the cake. Absolutely no need to fire back Detroit fans......the bear supporters who have posted have made themselves look so horrifically childish and ignorant that the comments need no rebuttal whatsoever. Calling Stafford, one of the league's most intelligent, classy players a scumbag. Calling Detroit, a city that more than ANY other city, won World War II, and was the birthplace of the middle class and the American dream, a "shame". We need not defend ourselves, our city, or our team. We know we work harder than anyone, Detroit is coming back, and our very talented football completely dismantled the Chicago Bears. I think it's pretty clear the more they talk, the better we look. Oh, and by the way? The Lions are far more talented than the bears based on what just about what everyone has seen through four games. Thanks to the very few bears fans who gave credit where credit was due, and admirably came to our city to support their team. You are appreciated, win or lose.

Over the last 12 years the lions are 53-139 ha what a joke. They are the laughing stock of the nfl only team to go 0-16. It does not get more pathetic than the lions they are the worst professional team in all of sports. There are crackheads that have brighter futures than detroit lions and those crackheads also make up about 90% of detroits population. Lousy fans that throw things at opposing teams too. Not to mention the coach is a complete loser who is a cheating piece of crap who coaches players to try to hurt others. And the lions barely won, after Cutler gave them the game they still almost lost. Stafford sucks overthrows wide open receivers, fumbles at the goal line. Calvin can't ever play well against the bears and Bush knew what stunts the Bears were using so he knew where to run. But every other position(the ones that weren't tipped off) were dominated byvthe Bears. Our o line, d line, te, rbs, wrs, qb, db, lbs, ss, fs, cbs, des, special teamers, down to the coachs out class and are better far more talented than the lions and have been and will still be for the foreseeable future.

Jealousy doesn't look good on you Chicago. You would take Stafford, Suh, Megatron, Fairley, and Bush over your guys and be damned glad to have them. Not to mention the fact that our O line dominated the game. It's just one win but it was a good, clean beat down plain and simple.

Great game that could have gone either way. NFL teams usually do not win with a number of turn overs like Chicago had. The Lions played well and took advantage of Chicago's errors - first time in a long time. Let's see them do the same against Green Bay. Good luck Lions - think you'all need it.

I honestly cannot believe what I am reading in these comments. I understand that we are division rivals and that there is going to be hostility, but this is pathetic! How can u call someone "classless" and in the same sentence, act like an ignorant 12 year old when he doesn't get his way? These comments made by Bears fans are absolutely ridiculous, and u should be ashamed to post such trash. I watched Marc Trestmans post game conference last night, and some of u need to pay more attention. Trestman is the definition of class, he didn't make any lame ass excuses for the loss. He didn't call anybody names, degrade the other team, or criticize the other coaching. He stood up there like a man, admitted defeat, and now he's gonna move on to next week. Grow up people. Stop making your team and it's fans look bad posting ignorant and unfounded criticisms after a loss! LionsFan Out!

As a lifelong Bears fan I am embarrased of the crying over the loss. Cutler's turnovers had more to do with the loss than any other factor.

Still, it sucks to be a Lion's fan. They have the biggest a-hole for a coach and brainless thugs for players.

Who gives a crap what bear players said.. This thing is getting way out of proportion... They just stated that they think izzy tipped em off... so who cares? That automatically makes em crybabies for that? I never heard em say "f'in bs we should have won this game, and thnx to izzy we didnt"... And seriously now all of us bear fans are crybabies cause of that? This shouldnt even be news... Bears made a huge comeback at the end of the game so please stop saying u destroyed us.. U guys won by 7...as a matter of fact the momentum was switching to bears until that bogus hold call detroit got after a huge cutler throw.. I love watching the replay of that play seeing no hold what so ever.. We will get u in soldier field!

We actually won by 8, but I'm sure for a Bears fan basic math is a chore. And for all the people who say Detroit is such a crappy place, why don't you look at your city first. Let's be honest, both have places you don't wanna go at night without a police escort.

And the past is the past. I know bears fans can only live in the past. You've won one Super Bowl, more than us, but it's not like you are a dynasty or anything.

Lions: Kings of making excuses, or crying. They have no rival at excuse making.

Schwartz: Laughable hypocrite. He calls the Bears accusations "ridiculous" but has no problems making such accusations without much thought.

Lions will always be losers, because you are Detroit. When the Bears are playing in the playoff and the Lions are making plans on drafting their next busts, you'll see I'm right.

FYI it was Bears Fans that were caught throwing the beer bottles. As for the city being bankrupt, it doesn't mean the people that live there are bankrupt. It sounds more like some of our fellow fans are morally bankrupt and prefer to say hateful things instead of maybe congratulating the Lions for playing some good football and hoping for a better game by both teams next time they meet. Does every comment stream have to be abusive?

It must suck to be a Lion,s fans. Their players are brainless thugs and they have the worst coach in the NFL. Is Matt Millen secretly running this joke of a franchise? Where can an NFL head coach get a job with a 23-43 record? There's only one team in the whole country that would have him. Plus he looks like the freshman that gets caught masterbating in the boys locker room stall. Be proud Lions fans, you ran the ball well up the middle on a team that were both exhausted from scoring 30+ points a game and losing their best defensive tackle for the year and the others' wife having 3 babies in one afternoon. All will be right with the stars soon enough and you'll see why a head coach with a 10-6 record last year gets them fired and a Lions coach with a 4-12 record (I think, for I don't pay any attention to the kitties) gets an extension. One more win and you guys can tie last years record. Good luck.
