Report: Former Lions RG Stephen Peterman to talk to Jets

Stephen Peterman, the long-time Detroit Lions’ starting right guard, was released in February but has yet to find work.

Peterman, who turned 31 in January, will visit the N.Y. Jets on Monday according to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News. Peterman would replace Brandon Moore at right guard.

Peterman started all 16 games in the last three seasons in Detroit where he played for seven seasons.

It’s unclear who will replace him in Detroit. It’s expected that Bill Nagy and Rodney Austin could compete for the spot.

The Lions’ offensive line will undergo major changes after playing the same five starters for three seasons.

Left tackle Jeff Backus retired and right tackle Gosder Cherilus signed as a free agent with the Indianapolis Colts. Riley Reiff is likely to start at one of the tackle positions. Corey Hilliard and Jason Fox could compete for the other.

Center Dominic Raiola reworked his contract to stay. Left guard Rob Sims will also return.
