Detroit Lions: Preseason schedule announced; open at Ford Field vs. Jets

It’s not exactly complete, but the Detroit Lions have announced their preseason schedule. Exact dates and times will be announced at a later date.

In Week 1, the Lions will host the New York Jets in preseason action at Ford Field. The last time these two teams met in the preseason was in 2005.

In Week 2, Detroit travels to Cleveland where they will take on the Browns for the 45th time in the preseason.

In Week 3, the Lions will host the New England Patriots. Detroit holds a 5-2 record in the preseason series with the Pats.

In Week 4, the Lions will close out the preseason on the road in Buffalo where the two teams will meet for the 33rd time in preseason history.

The 2013 NFL regular season schedule is expected to be released in about two weeks.

In the 2013 regular season the Lions will play at home against the Chicago Bears, Minnesota Vikings, Green Bay Packers, Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Lions will hit the road to play Bears, Packers, Vikings, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Redskins, Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers and Arizona Cardinals.

No date has been announced for the regular season schedule release but it’s typically the week before the NFL draft which runs April 25-27.
