Detroit Lions sign Havard Rugland, Norwegian trick-shot kicker

The kicking position for the Detroit Lions just got a little more interesting.

The Lions announced late Thursday that they have signed Norwegian kicker Havard Rugland, aka Kickalicious. He had worked out for them.

Rugland’s four-minute kicking video went viral last year. He’s never played in the NFL and takes running starts before many of his trick-shot kicks, but he’s been working with former NFL kicker Michael Husted.

Last week after Jason Hanson retired, the Lions signed veteran NFL kicker David Akers who is 38. Akers had his worst NFL season last year with San Francisco when he completed just 69 percent of his field goal attempts.

Could be in interesting training camp on the special teams front.

Interesting indeed. If Rugland's that tricky, perhaps he could manage long overdue kicks to William Clay Ford and Mustang Billy's heads, boot the current inept from office personnel, kick the crazed head coach to the curb, and get a running head start on trying to drill a little sense into a roster of criminals waiting to happen. I say money is no object. Sign him up.
