Backus, Leshoure out, but injuries not considered long-term
ALLEN PARK — Jeff Backus was wearing a brace on his right hand after injuring his thumb at Saturday’s training camp session. He did not participate in Sunday’s practice.
Mikel Leshoure, who pulled a hamstring on Saturday, did not practice either.
Coach Jim Schwartz said both injuries are short-term.
“I just felt it coming, no pop or nothing serious like that. I definitely wanted to be smart about it,’’ Leshoure said.
He feels it had something to do with over-compensation while rehabbing from Achilles’ tendon surgery.
“Also just being out for a year and having to come back and get right into things,’’ Leshoure said. “(I’m) being smart about it, not wanting to rush back and make this a season-lingering injury. That’s pretty much it.’’
