Stan Kwan has been hired as an assistant by new Buffalo Bills special teams coach Bruce DeHaven. Kwan served two seasons as the Lions’ special teams coordinator, after spending several seasons in Detroit as an assistant to Chuck Priefer, the dean of special teams coaches. Kwan started during the Bobby Ross era and lasted through many regimes.
The Lions special teams started slow and never gained much traction during the 2-14 season. It wasn’t all Kwan’s fault, but somebody had to go. He was the only Lions’ coach relieved of his duties following the season. Kwan was one of the few coaches Jim Schwartz kept on when he arrived in town a year ago.
