As expected, the Lions placed cornerback Jack Williams on Injured Reserve on Tuesday, ending his season. He suffered a significant knee injury early in the second half of Sunday’s loss at Minnesota.

The Lions signed offensive lineman Melvin Fowler to take Williams’ roster spot. Fowler was in the Arizona Cardinals training camp this year and spent the last few seasons in Buffalo. Starting right guard Stephen Peterman was also injured on Sunday. Signing Fowler could mean that Peterman will miss a few games although no announcement has been made.
