The Lions have confirmed they have traded defensive tackle Cory Redding and a fifth-round pick to Seattle for linebacker Julian Peterson. The deal is contingent on both players passing physicals.

dave, what are the chances of us still drafting curry and then switching to a 3-4?

I was wondering the same thing and that's a question I'll be asking after Curry's visit. Jim Schwartz has indicated several times he'll be playing a 4-3, but some hybrid formations could be in the mix. He and Gunther Cunningham will scheme to their personnel.

More than that, I wonder what this means for Ernie Sims. I believe it was Mayock who said weeks ago that Curry is the ideal WILL LB. If he can play either outside position and proves himself No. 1, maybe you pair him with Peterson in a 4-3, still draft a MIKE and deal Sims as part of a package for for a quarterback.

Of course, this is all conjecture for now. First step, I guess, is to finish grading the draft prospects. Can Curry play MIKE? Is Stafford a franchise quarterback? And what do you need more at No. 20, middle backer (if Curry's not the pick) or defensive tackle?

i think there will def be some hybrid formations regardless of what our primary will be.

i would love to see avril, curry, sims, and peterson back there though. we'd pretty much be unstoppable.

Could Ernie move to the inside if we took Curry?
