Lions get one extra pick
The Lions didn't get any compensation picks for losing free agents, but they did gain an extra seventh-rounder when the NFL announced the official draft order Monday.
League rules call for there to be 256 picks in the draft. After compensatory picks are awarded, open slots are filled based on first-round draft order. The Lions received the second to last pick, No. 255 overall. Two years ago, they took Mr. Irrelevant Ramzee Robinson with the last pick in the draft.
They now have eight overall picks, including two first- and two third-rounders, but no choices in the fourth or fifth rounds.
The league also announced its prime-time kickoff weekend and Thanksgiving games at its annual meetings Monday. The Lions host Green Bay on Thanksgiving for the second time in three years. They've lost their last five holiday games.
The rest of the league schedule will be revealed next month.

why the Ramzee Robinson dis? At least he is still on the team. The 5th rounder Ken Moore is gone, and lets just not go through past draft history. Hopefully Schwartz/Mayhew/Lewand/Harris/....er Mr Ford get it right from now on.
just got a sneak peek at the new lions logo [hopefully] and, wow! that looks infinitely times better than the old logo, i think. can only hope it's for real.

Mr. Irrelevant is the official nickname of the person taken with the last pick in the draft. It wasn't a dis against Robinson who is a great special teamer.
One moment that will stick out in my mind is a game I was covering at the Metrodome where Ramzee was the first person down the field and blew up the ball carrier. He was next to Boss Bailey who I then realized was the irrelevant one.
come on dave, where are the updates man? news all over the place and you're nowhere to be found.
