Kitna to IR

With no trades in the works, the Lions decided this morning to place quarterback Jon Kitna on injured reserve. The decision should be announced later today.

Kitna suffered a back injury in the first half of the Lions' 34-7 loss to Chicago two weeks ago. He did not play last week against Minnesota and did not travel with the team.

Dan Orlovsky completed 12-of-21 passes for 150 yards in Kitna's place against the Vikings and will make his second career start this week at Houston.

Kitna, who has muscular damage in his lower back, finishes the season with 758 yards passing, five touchdowns and five interceptions. He never seemed to buy fully into new coordinator Jim Colletto's offense, and, with one year left on his contract, may have played his last game as a Lion.

pretty sad that it took fudd this long to figure out that shitna is not the answer at qb....it's also really sad that it takes an injury for fudd to release his death grip on the 'vets'.

start orlo at houston and see how he does....if we're not leading by halftime, put stanton in. if we win when stanton's in, start him against the skins at home.

glad kitna's on IR, but was hoping we'd be able to trade him and get an offensive lineman or something.

Dave - is Kitna to the IR a done deal, or are the Lion's still trying to trade him? You're the only news source saying the former, as of this morning.

supposedly the leos are still trying to trade him more than likely to the 9ers, lets hope they do and we at least get a 5th round pick or some cash for him....and if he plays a certain amount of snaps than it bumps up to a 4th or 3rd round pick....
