Lions interview Mike Munchak; will talk to Ken Whisenhunt in San Diego

Here’s the latest on the Detroit Lions coaching search:

— Mike Munchak, who was fired by the Tennessee Titans on Saturday, was interviewed today (Wednesday) at the Lions practice facility.
He was the third candidate that the Lions have interviewed. Jim Caldwell, the Ravens’ offensive coordinator, talked to the Lions on Friday. Gary Kubiak, who was fired by the Houston Texans in early December, flew to Detroit for an interview on Tuesday.

—  Ken Whisenhunt, the San Diego Chargers’ offensive coordinator, is limited by NFL rules. The Chargers have opened a window for him to use for interviews on Friday. The Lions will fly to San Diego and have the first allotted slot to interview him, according to Jason La Canfora, CBS Sports NFL Insider.
While the Lions can talk to Whisenhunt on Friday, they could not hire him until the Chargers are out of the playoffs — or win the Super Bowl. San Diego is a 10-point underdog for the divisional matchup against the Broncos in Denver on Sunday.
