Lions draft order set; 7 picks this year
The NFL draft is only a month away.
Last year the Lions had five picks in the draft, this year they’re up to seven.
They lost their sixth-round pick because of the tampering case with Kansas City. It was initially a seventh-round pick, but because Lions were in the playoffs it became a sixth-round pick.
Also they Lions gained a seventh-round pick in a trade deal involving Seattle and Tyler Polumbus in 2010.
Here’s the order with overall picks in parentheses — First (23rd), second (54th), third (85th), fourth (117th), fifth (158th), seventh (219 fr/ Seattle) and seventh (230).
Seventh-rounders can be huge. DE Willie Young was a seventh-round pick in 2010. The year before the Lions grabbed LB Zack Follett in the final round.
Last year OL Johnny Culbreath was picked up in the seventh. He was hampered with injuries last season, so the jury is still out.
The three-day NFL draft runs April 26 through April 28.
